Buddy’s:-
626 E Lewis St. 208/233-1172
Situated a few blocks from the Idaho State University campus, Buddy's
has been feeding hungry ISU students, locals, and travelers for more
than 40 years. Buddy's salad is among the most popular items, drenched
in fresh garlic dressing (a bottled version of which is available
in stores throughout the West) and big enough for a meal. Pizza is
another favorite, served with traditional-style meat sauce or a garlic
butter version. Sandwiches and pasta dishes round out the menu; the
latter come with soup or salad, bread, dessert, and coffee. Half of
Buddy's is a bar, but the other half caters to families. It can take
a while to be served when the place gets busy.
Continental Bistro:- 140 S. Main
St. 208/233-4433
In downtown Pocatello, there's no finer dining
than what you'll find at the Continental Bistro. The large main
dining room is classy with its high ceilings and textured walls,
but the courtyard out back is wonderful for summertime visits. At
lunch, try the Monte Cristo sandwich: smoked ham, honey-cured turkey
and Swiss cheese on sourdough with apple chutney. At dinner, a Cajun
influence surfaces with crawfish bisque and blackened pork tenderloin.
Visit on Wednesday evening for live jazz (in summer) and discount
microbrews or Thursday for a prime rib dinner special for two.
Buca
de Beppo:
A neighborhood restaurant where you can feast on family platters
of real, immigrant, Southern Italian specialties in a boisterous,
celebratory environment that recalls the Italian-American supper
clubs of the 1940's and '50s.
